Just finished it for the third time and it was just as good. I really love Aurora as a character and seeing her find a family is just so sweet. Love Aurora and Rhodes obviously but my favorite part is Aurora and Amos. She loves that boy and just wants to encourage him. Also her being confused when Rhodes starts calling her angel is so funny. I loved the new bonus chapter about their proposal.

Rhodes and Aurora

This was another great slow burn from Mariana Zapata. I loved all the characters and their relationships. I devour every book she releases.

I gotta be honest, I found this really boring. Considering it was 559 pages, not much happened. Very slow burn because really how fast can things move with that many pages??

This book was pretty good! I went in with little to no expectations, and I wasn’t blown away but I also wasn’t too disappointed. I loved From Lukov with Love when I read it last year, and since this is Zapata’s highest rated book I thought I’d give this one a go next.

I think this book could probably have been about 100-200 pages shorter. I know a long slow burn is what should be expected from Zapata, but I found myself skimming a few sections, as there were a lot of repetitive moments throughout.

I did appreciate that this book tackled more than just a slow burn romantic subplot; it delves into topics like parenting and grief, and i think these were pretty well developed throughout. However, I was mostly here for the slow-burn romance, so when the focus of the story was on these things I was a little less interested.

Some of the drama, particularly towards the end, felt a bit messy. The drama just didn’t seem like a big enough deal for the way the characters reacted, and then it was resolved almost immediately anyway. Like, what’s the point?

I flew through this book, it was definitely entertaining, but I don’t think I see myself ever reading it again or going out of my way to recommend it.

I was generous at first with a 4-star rating, but the more I sit and think about it the less I actually like this book. The main character wasn’t super likable, and the male interest’s pet names were awkward. Literally called her “angel face.” 😬
