It's really hard to review autobiographies. The first word that came to mind when I finished  listening to it was complicated. I was not ready for all of the graphic content and I was uncomfortable a lot of times but it was definitely needed.

All the content warnings, but whoa what a poignant, raw read. I'm one of the rare people who didn't know who Jennette McCurdy was before reading this ^^; that said, bold move to write memoir of this intensity while still sorting things out. It was nice to read about her individuation process after her mom died, but admittedly I'd be curious to read the sequel (if she ever creates anything else autobiographical) and see where she lands after even more processing. I wonder what kind of art she will make in due time.

My upbringing wasn't nearly this wildly abusive or under the limelight, but some emotional aspects overlapped in a frightening way. I struggled reading some parts of it, because I've grown past some places she's currently at and I got frustrated with her, but upon further reflection I think it's good to read how different everyone's journey is.

I loved how the book is narrated in the first person and how the pov starts from a 6 year old girl and transforms into a 26 year old woman. I think that the growing is very visible
