I have so so so much respect and gratitude for Jennette McCurdy for firstly living through all of the horrific shit she went through in her life (you literally could not guess
HALF of it), but also for sharing it so candidly in this book. Her story of growth, rebuilding and rediscovering herself, and of overcoming every kind of adversity is equal parts funny and heartbreaking. This book is proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel for people living through eating disorders, narcissistic parents, alcoholism, or even (although less likely) childhood stardom. Bonus half star for the 2-3 page chapters, making it super easy to read in bites!

"Loving someone is vulnerable. It's sensitive. It's tender. And I get lost in them. If I love someone, I start to disappear. It's so much easier to just do googly eyes and fond memories and inside jokes for a few months, run the second things start to get real, then repeat the cycle with someone new."
