A very vulnerable book. Jennette McCurdy opens up about the realities of being pushed into acting, forgoing childhood, and the affects of an abusive (in retrospect) parent. Raw, vulnerable, and powerful.

Fame has put a wedge between Mom and me that I didn’t think was possible. She wanted this. And I wanted her to have it. I wanted her to be happy. But now that I have it, I realize she’s happy and I’m not. Her happiness came at the cost of mine. I feel robbed and exploited.

This book was super fucking sad and painful to get through. I felt for Jennette throughout, it was tough to find someone genuinely sticking my her side. She’s very strong for writing this and I hope this memoir has helped someone in her shoes.
