Incredible book. Jeanette McCurdy has a really incredible skill as an author, and is able to recall her heartbreaking and horrible past in a way which is funny, light enough to withstand, and makes you feel like you were right there beside her through it all. An amazing memoir, as said by someone who never reads memoirs. I got the audiobook and highly recommend it. Hearing her words in her voice was incredible. She is such a talented storyteller.

Hearing Jeanette's story is so emotional and raw. It can definitely be triggering if mental illness and parental abuse is something you struggle reading about. Outside of that, I highly recommend this book. It is so open and nostalgic. Jeanette is a born writer. You can tell writing this book was very therapeutic for her and I hope it encourages her to potentially write more in the future.

This story is so sad and depressing. Jennette McCurdy was violated, abused and paced into a career in tv by her own mother. This is a story of eating disorders, alcoholism, narcissistic family members and the devastating life of a child in Hollywood.  Excellent written, though I had a hard time finding it funny.

i could not read this fast. it was so horrible and painful what she had to go through and i’m so glad she’s better now. i loved icarly as a kid and reading this made me realised how fucked up the life of someone can be that you idolise as a child
