Super fast read. Really well written to help you understand someone’s mindset. It was wonderful to see the the growth and my heart broke for the character I loved on Icarly and to know she was in so much pain. Wonderfully written.

Given the title and the cover, I thought it would be a vindictive recantation of her life with some poor slapstick humor. It was not. It was a beautifully written prose of the author going over her childhood and young adulthood and how heavily she idolized her (now deceased) mother to the intense detriment of her own physical and mental health. Only years after her mother died did she begin to understand that what her mother did was wrong and not her fault, and she began to heal from it. It isn’t until the last page do you see any sort of “moving on” from idolizing the mother. The audiobook is narrated by the author which I liked.

Confronting, vulnerable and incredibly brave. All I can say is thank you Jenette for sharing your story - as important as it is hopefully.
