i love this too! everything i said abt elatsoe stands! i think darcie little badger  has an incredible gift for taking what writing teachers call “writing what you know”, & then growing that known world into one so much vaster than our own, all the while remaining so very grounded… rooted. phenomenal, brilliant, all the classic words of praise & then some!

I’m really glad I stuck with this book. I struggled with the pace at first, as it’s slower than other things I have been reading recently. It really picks up around 60% of the way through, and keeps rolling from there. There is a lot to think about in this book in regard to the evolution and loss of language. There is also both a sweet found family storyline, as well as an equally sweet multi generational family.
