Dry by Neal and Jarrod Shusterman was a great YA apocalyptic fiction that will have you thirsting for more (pun fully intended). I really enjoyed the way this book took real world problems that California faces and brought them to the forefront as a means of addressing the potential dangers of these problems worsening. I liked the characters and the way they interacted. I also found their personalities and knowledge to be believable and genuine. I think the plot was a bit thin, but in the context, I really liked it. I appreciated that not everything was easy for these characters, but I do feel like their experience with people (given the situation) was a bit too easy at each turn. Their ability to avoid these situations for most of the book felt a bit  convenient. All in all I really enjoyed this story and felt like it was well executed as a stand-alone read.

very powerful and thought-provoking. i honestly think i enjoyed this book more than Unwind. the only reason why i took .25 stars off is because of Henry.

I loved everything about this book except the very end. I thought the way things wrapped up was too quick and quite unsatisfying. But I definitely loved the tense atmosphere, and I always enjoy stories that show how different people react to and deal with big disasters like this. How easily society could fall apart. The main characters actions and priorities are a bit questionable every now and then, but hey, they are teenagers, I thought it was believable.
And in conclusion: like so many others who read this book: yes, it made me really thirsty…. Not taking the water out of my tap for granted, that’s for sure!

Meh. Nothing special. The last chapter was the best part.

Neal (and Jarrod) did it again! Something about his books just hits different. He does something really interesting.

I love how this book is about the survival of a dystopian disaster. How it’s about how it changes people and society and how we sometimes take so incredibly much for granted.

The end did feel a bit rushed. I would have liked some more. It feels a little off how quickly everything is solved in the end. Plus I needed more characters to die. Maybe all of them.

this was a really interesting commentary on human nature and people’s ability to be compassionate in times of crisis. neal shusterman regularly does an amazing job of incorporating a deeper message in his books and this one is no different.
