I read this book right after completing the Three Girls series, so it was a slightly challenging for me to get into. But, after about 50 pages I started liking Emily, Amanda, Chris, Ryan and Brooke. Then, Schurig did the most awesome thing, she incorporated Ginny (from Three Girls) into this story, albeit briefly, but as a college friend of Emily's. It was fascinating to read as the two worlds, both set in the same city, came together. Schurig is a great writer, especially with keeping time lines perfectly put together. This story is about Emily and her inability to find love as her friends try to help her.

Another good read from Rachel Schurig, there was a minor error near the end where it said Ashley was kissing Ryan when it should have said Chris.

I loved all the characters but
Spoiler Greg was an arse and I was so glad when Emily finally saw sense. I was rooting for Elliott all along and was glad when they ended up together even though it was predictable

I got this as a free kindle book. I enjoyed it, but there were some confusing errors. I would consider this a guilty pleasure read, nothing substantial.

It was an ok story. My main problem was I kept seeing the word Chris'ss, which was rather annoying

Didn't drive me as bonkers as I thought it would. Sure the writing could be tightened up quite a bit and the plot line isn't new (I mean, does just everyone except me have a handsome guy best friend waiting in the wings for them to fall in love with? I'm sick of that plot device), but I found myself mildly interested in how it would all wrap up, and thought some of the secondary characters were interesting.

I typically love Rachel's books, but this one didn't blow my shirt up. The pace was much slower than I prefer, and the plot felt like it was lacking. I'll probably read the rest of the trilogy though just because I enjoy this authors writing style!

My Summary: Single late 20s professional who's friends think she needs love. Falls into the "perfect love story" only to discover what perfect actually is.

When I saw the stack of books on the cover of IN SEARCH OF A LOVE STORY by Rachel Schurig, I was immediately intrigued. I can always be persuaded to read *anything* that features books on the front cover, so I was sold before I read a word of the description.

Luckily, the plot matches the cover in this case, and the story line was adorable and fun from start to finish. Emily is a tomboy who feels she has extraordinary difficult in selecting adequate men in her life. She always picks guys who are unavailable, undesirable, or just plain unappealing, and she has no idea how to break the cycle. Her friends brainstorm and decide that Emily's problem is that she has failed to experience the great love stories -- through books, music, and movies -- that would teach her valuable lessons about life and love. Without chick flicks and romance novels to guide her way, Emily has no idea how to select a suitable mate, ending in countless chains of dead end relationships and one night failures.

So, Emily's friends immediately commit her to weeks of thorough research, in which she must watch Bridget Jones, read Pride and Prejudice, gorge herself on girly movies and sappy books in hopes of learning what *really* works in a real life love story. Emily thinks things are finally going her way when she meets Greg, a handsome, wealthy stud who embodies all of the traits from her new romantic tales of entertainment. Greg is absolutely perfect on paper -- so why are things not really working out when the story translates to real life?

Can Emily find her perfect love story, or do happy endings only exist in fairy tales?

IN SEARCH OF A LOVE STORY was just plain adorable, and I can't deny that a few sections had me head over heels for this little novel. For example, when Emily finished Jane Eyre and asked if she was supposed to look for a crazy man who seemed nice but really lied and locked his wife in an attic, I was literally laughing out loud! And a quote I loved? "Was I seriously setting myself up for heartbreak because I picked John Grisham over Jane Austin?" Priceless!

This was definitely a cuddly, romantic, heart-warming story, and I'm thrilled to see that there will be other books featuring some of Emily's friends instead. If you're an avid reader of girly books -- or you're just in the mood for a good love story -- give this one a try! You won't be disappointed!

This story was quite a laugh. It's the ultimate dummies guide to romance and dating in my opinion; they take a tom-boy and put her through a crash course in romantic literature and movies.

Emily finds her love life being dictated by her best friends, they think they can find her the perfect Mr Darcey because of their experience in romantic movies and books. This is quite amusing as the moral of the story is really "it's right there in front of your face", no amount of money or fancy dinners can make the perfect romance. I thought this was quite insightful because Greg, the wealthy bloke trying to court her, is very good looking... but he isn't "the one".

In a way this book is about Emily re-discovering herself. She has to do this before she's ready for love. It's interesting to see the different changes in Emily throughout the book as different situations arise.

This book did make me giggle in a few places. The characters are almost life-like but something didn't really make them "real" to me. Still, the storyline makes up for that. It gives you the traditional story-book romance, chucks it out the window and replaces it with the down-to-Earth boy next door. I really think we can learn a few things from this; things aren't always what they seem. It may look good on paper but it doesn't mean it's going to be the perfect romance for you. Different people need different things in a relationship and this book shows that.

I'd say it's worth a read and it was certainly a laugh. It has a good storyline even if the characters could be a little more life-like, the writing itself is still good. I'd recommend to any chick-lit or romance lover.
