i had such high hopes for this as a sapphic romance reader but the mark was just not met.. it read like such a cheesy netflix film, abi can attest to how begrudingly i finished this book
ultimately i feel like the premise was good but a lot more could be done with it. i wish we got more of alex and molly as a couple they didnt even realise they liked each other til like the last 50 pages i mean give me SOMETHING to work with at least. normally i love slowburn but not like this

CW: racism, alcoholic behaviour.
This book was sickly sweet, and it was so easy to read. I flew through the whole thing in two days flat. Watching Molly and Alex's relationship develop made me melt. They had so much chemistry compared to most other romance couples I've read about recently, and even before they got romantic with each other they clearly meshed well as friends. The actual plot was surprisingly realistic as well in the way in played out, considering the idea it was based on (two girls developing a plan to help each other with their love lives, explained very briefly for spoiler purposes) is way more common in fiction than in real life.
I just want to quickly talk about the way that Alex is portrayed in the book, specifically her relationship with Natalie. I won't get into it too much, as to remain spoiler free in this review, but it was nice to see a lesbian relationship portrayed in a more messy, realistic way, contrasting the overly pure way they're often portrayed in media. A change is always refreshing, and representation of other types of relationships that aren't as perfect as the ones we see most often are important.
Long story short, I really enjoyed this book. 4/5, if you like sapphic romance I'm sure you'll like this.
