Literally no description of “the French girl” a very boring novel. Deflating ending.

This was just so super meh for me. I never do well with British authors, it’s like the slang throws me out of the story. The big reveal felt obvious pretty soon from the beginning of the story - there wasn’t a twist.

I wished I was a faster reader, I needed to know what happened. The ending was disappointing though.

Middling suspense with too small a suspect pool. The protagonist's constant visions of the dead girl were strange given her lack of connection to her when she was alive.

Not a quick drama but rather a slow burn type read, The French Girl could be for fans of legal dramas rather than police procedurals. We only follow one character and only know what she knows, which, turns out, is never that much. I never felt like there was any real build up until BOOM the book dropped all the answers at once and ended.
