It has been a while since I've read this series, but I don't remember it being so wordy. I felt that there was too much dialogue and not enough action, and there wasn't enough romance. Granted, Vincent is volant in this book, but they could have had sweeter conversations.

I was not a fan of the ending of this...soooo many questions still. It still felt very unfinished for me. Other than that, the rest of the story was still pretty good. Most was predictable but entertaining nonetheless.

I just love this series so much. I am sad to see it end.

I hate to say it... But I had this ending figured out before book 2! Also, the first 2 thirds or so could have used some more problems and conflict. Our main character seemed to breeze through everything... So I kind of struggled to stay interested.
The last third of the book finally started picking up the story line, and we began seeing some nice little tidying up on minor plots and issues. The showdown was brilliantly written although predictable, and the final chapter was beautiful.

If you are a fan of the Revenants series, you can't miss this one. So read it!

All in all, this was an interesting journey.

I think there was a lot of drama in this book, which is not necessarily good, but gives intensity to all that happens.

I was sad with the fate of some characters, especially Jules.

I feel so sorry for him. I wish his end had been different and he had found some way to be where he was, still.

But it is so hard to love someone who doesn't love us back, especially when that person loves someone who means the world to us too.

So, even though I am heartbroken for Jules, I can really understand his decision. I would probably have done the same thing.

I just wish the vibrant person he was hadn't disappeared like that. Just sad!

Also, this book kind of made me root for him and Kate. How...unexpected!

I was surprised with some other things, mainly with the way Vincent was brought back, yet I only gave If I Should Die 4 stars because I saw a lot of what was coming.

Like the Champion Prophecy. I totally saw that coming in book 2!

And I can't say I'm happy about that.

I didn't want that fate to the person to whom this prophecy referred to. But, at the same time, this solved a lot of other issues, so I guess I have to be somewhat happy.

Also, I feel like the end was rushed.

I wanted to know what would happen next with a lot of characters, mainly Jules and if he ever could get over his feelings, Gaspard, because of that awful thing that happened in the end, Charlotte and Ambrose and Georgia and Arthur, giving their new relationship status, Kate and Vincent and their new roles, Charles and his German clan, Kate and Georgia's grandparents, and so on.

I didn't get that, which left me more than a bit distressed.

But I just have to accept that I won't ever get answers to all I want to know.

This review is going to contain a bunch of spoilers, so I'd highly recommend skipping this if you haven't read the book. First off, I'd like to commend Amy Plum for her incredible ideas. The intricacies of these books left me stunned. When Kate was reembodying Vincent, I almost forgot that it wasn't a real ritual. Everything was just really brilliantly planned and thought out. The whole deal with Jean-Baptise sheltering numa was a complete blindside. When Theo told Vincent and Kate that story, I didn't believe him. I thought he was some sort of numa cohort who was just trying to get Vincent to turn against his kindred. I was obviously incredibly wrong, though. Speaking of Jean-Baptiste, I am not ashamed to say I cried like a small child when Gaspard spoke at the "memorial service." I just... wow. In my opinion, that was one of the most well-written segments of the whole book. I also cried when Jules left. I felt really angry with him at first for leaving his kindred at the most inconvenient time possible, but I felt deep pity for him after that. It must have been torture to see the girl you love more than anything hang all over your best friend. In retrospect, I see that Jules was just looking out for himself. Good for him. I kind of had a love-hate relationship with Vincent, too. When he was still a wandering soul, I just felt like he was really... annoying. Even when he got his new body, he seemed more overprotective than usual. Then again, he seemed to let his love for Kate cloud his judgment sometimes. I mean, even after Kate became the Champion (something I will address in a moment), he kissed her before making sure she was all right. I'd rather make sure she's okay so I can kiss her more later. In any case, I digress. On to the Champion thing. Maybe it's just my heightened powers of perception (haha, get it?), but I totally knew Kate was going to become a revenant. Heck, I even guessed she'd be the Champion. I don't know why, but it just seemed really obvious to me. Even so, I absolutely adored this series and will be reading it again many times in the future.

I'm a bit disappointed from this book. I loved the story (how couldn't I after the first two books?) and I still do love the characters! BUT I'm so dissappointed because of Jules!
SpoilerJules is my favorite character from these books! But... I feel sooo bad for him when Kate kissed him and she KNEW what he felt and still she cared more about herself. I mean sure, but no one asked what was with him. And then he decided to stay behind and then he wasn't there for half the book. And suddenly when the fight came, he was there for like 5 minutes, had one sentence and left AGAIN. So where's his happy ending? I hope Amy Plum decides to write a Spin Of with him. I NEED to know what will happen.

It had been pretty clear that Kate is going to be the champion, so the surprise moment was gone. But still it had been a pretty nice read! Mostly because I fell in love with the characters and was glad that Charlotte was back! And can we take a moment to appreciate Charles? I haven't been a big fan of him in the first books, but his super cool appeariance with the german guys was just awesome!

Ambrose was just the good guy he's always been and I really fangirled when he finally kissed Charlotte! I was pretty sad when JP died. *sniff*

So I'm pretty unsure how to rate it, but as the series had been so awesome I think I'm going with 4 stars.
