Interesting concept. The story got a little overpowered by the love triangle drama.

so here’s the thing: i normally wouldn’t read a book like this, it’s not generally what i’m in to and the only reason i picked it up is because it was gifted to me. i never thought i would read a stephanie meyer book, so the fact that i didn’t totally hate it kind of surprised me.

i think it had everything a good book should have. it had some really good characters and character development, an interesting plot and concept, the writing was decent, and i thought there was some really good tension and suspense. i even found myself close to tears at some points, which is pretty rare when it comes to books. the book started out slow, but as soon as the plot began to pick up it became really interesting.

my complaints are minor, there were only a few things that rubbed me the wrong way (and these are very personal to me lol): some age gaps in some certain romantic relationships, there’s a scene where a needle is used on two different people (c’mon dude this is how diseases are spread). however, in the context of this book these things are totally explained and somewhat understandable, but still ya know?

overall i thought it was pretty average. i would definitely recommend it if your just looking for something fun that still has a little bit of substance. i found myself actually wanting to read and engage with it, and isn’t that all reading is really about?

(sorry this review is a bit all over the place but i hope it still makes sense!!)
