Review - I love the take on Cinderella (but not really Cinderella). I also find the poetry extracts at the beginning of the chapters a great little opening as an idea to what will happen. I loved Harriet. She was so conflicted and strong, although also a little naive. The servants grow on me with every book, particularly Lizzie. I can't seem to grow fond of any of the male protagonists in these books however.

Oof. By far the worst of the three of these I've read. Like the others, this has the worst of romance tropes in spades but it lacks any of the charm. The servants--the best characters--are kept to a bare minimum--leaving only vapid upstairs characters in the plot.

Thanks to the wonders of the Kindle lending library, I'm revisiting this series after having enjoyed it in childhood, and I have to say that this is the only one the has held up to a second reading. I liked it enough that I was actually tempted to purchase it. The characters are likable, and the story is mostly believable and very fun.

Another fun and feisty Regency romance from Chesney. I don't know if I love the staff of A House for the Season series as much as the Poor Relations, but I'm enjoying them more and more. Loved the Godmother and the way Lizzie and Rainbird get to shine as they help her out.

These stories are light and frothy fun. The characters are charming and silly. It's the kind of book you read when you want to smile, but not when you are looking for a deep plot.

I do love Beaton's regency books, light and easy -- helps you leave all your stresses to one side for a while.
