Not a bad story. I read it before I started reading James Potter and the Vault of Destines. Kind of like James Potter 2.5 without James.

Before reading this, I was on my journey through the James Potter universe, created superbly by G. Norman Lippert. I finished reading the second book, and was ready to move on to the third one, but my pace was halted by an opening message from the author in the third book. While not necessary, this book was supposed to provide the readers with better grasp of the plot of the third book. I decided to read it because I was not ready to start without having a gap in my knowledge.
In truth, I was not expecting much because this book is not about James Potter, but about a girl named Petra; a recent Hogwarts graduate who played a central role in the second book of James Potter series. Judging by its short story, I decided I could power through the entire book in few hours. Now, as I have finished the book in one sitting, I have to say I did enjoy reading it. The entire story and the tone put forth by the author was darker and gloomier than the James Potter series I have read previously, but it suited the story well. It also did well in showing what the author was capable of; getting out of the comfort zone of the familiar setting involving Hogwarts to create a story that shines with originality.

Dark fairy tale, yes. Story of Petra &explanation of what she returned home to. The story is short, but now that I am a few pages into the 3rd James Potter, I'd say to be sure to read it between books 2 & 3.

It was good

This was a good book. The author does a good job, but I felt like I needed a bit more action or more of an ending in order to give it a higher rating.
