Good book,
have a few things to mention tho. Please stop with the age gap difference in romance instances! It's not cute or hot or anything like it. It's creepy and disgusting and it's ruining the whole book, which is a shame, because I was realy enjoying it... And it happened not once, but multiple times.
It's a fantasy book, nobody forces you to put anything in it and you are not constrained by historical accuracies! This things were put by the author with their free will and it wasn't critical for the plot or anything. It was put there for the sake of what?
Another thing I didn't like was the outcome of the relationship between Orma and Eskar. It made no sens for Eskar to have an egg with Comonot, there were no hints leading to this, it came out of nowhere and it was out of character. It realy left me with a bad taste. wierd decision for the book.
That is my opinion
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Body shaming, Emotional abuse, Hate crime, Incest, Pedophilia, Forced institutionalization, Religious bigotry, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Body horror, Rape, Torture, Violence, Suicide attempt, and Fire/Fire injury

I absolutely loved this book. I have high expectations for Rachel Hartman, and as always, she exceeded them. This author has a way of reaching into my heart and addressing the things that are hurting in a way that makes me feel less alone. I don’t know how in the world she has this gift, or if by chance her books just come to me when I need them, but I am so grateful.
Shadow Scale is an excellent companion to Serafina. We learn more about Serafina and about the other half dragons, and extend our cast of characters. There’s a wider political story and a minor underlying love story as well. The villain is formidable, the protagonist flawed and admirable, and the world building extraordinary. I effortlessly recommend any Rachel Hartman book, and Shadow Scale is no exception.

Characters also experience: misgendering (once, challenged), exile, and body theft/possession. There is a polygamous romance (minor).princessgirlypop's review

This book started off a little bit slow but overall I liked it just as much, if not more, than the first book! I loved all the new characters that were introduced and it tied up all the loose ends from the first book! I don’t want to spoil anything, but the twists and turns were so satisfying! And in the end I felt very content with the story! My only critique is that the romance between Seraphina and Lucien is a little bit bland in my opinion, I like that it’s more sub-plot than plot, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the platonic relationships in the book. The world building and prose are probably the aspects I thought were the best!
Also I highly recommend the audio book! The reader is really great and I think it really added to my enjoyment!
