Prepare to cry. I finished this book in my math class so now my notes are stained with tears :(
But seriously, I went into this not expecting much, but Backman uses basic callback techniques to remind the reader of events from earlier in the book. At first, I thought it was a cheap technique, but it makes sense later in the book as you learn more about the complexities of Ove and co. and you can't continue without understanding and remembering those details and emotions. It was a nice easy read, but I will admit I cried every time I opened the book. Not for the weak.

a beautiful book about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. And how doing the right thing can save you.

Bachmann reaches inside of your soul to grab the parts that relate to a random old man. I recommend reading without knowing anything about the book.

I found the book overall enjoyable and simple as this is focus on first person perspective. The neighbors could get annoying, I do agreed with Ova like how acted on their demands. It’s seems that this focus so much on plot moving along that felt like could get lost where you are at in the story since the author going back in forth in the timeline makes easier to forget the setting. Speaking of the setting I wish the author would some time makes remind to reader where and when is Tory taking place. The character definitely has some type of mental health issue: death of parent early age, and lack of social interactions. This book  gives mixed feelings kind felt very comforting and disturb of the character action from attempting to
Commit sucide to heart felt moment.

Finished wiping my tears to say Ove is simply too young in this book. 59 is not old man territory!! He's younger than my mum who has a similar attitude to him in some ways but still understands computers and phones? Idk his age constantly threw me out of so many interactions - alongside him also apparently being super buff lol

I just loved the Beartown trilogy so much that I am shocked with how much I did not love this book. Was a drag to get through unfortunately. I did cry heavily, multiple times but it's not one that will stick with me and I'm just glad it's done.
