This was one of the required readings for my Contemporary Fiction course... it would never be a story that I would pick up just for my own enjoyment. It was a pretty easy read but I found the story extremely dull and I never was fully invested in the story. Also I struggled a lot with the way the author formatted the dialogue, at times it was very hard to know who was speaking or when it would shift to another character's voice.

Interesting writing and important message, but the plot itself is a bit dull

covers very important topics and I really liked it at first but the mc/author(?) seemed kind of fatphobic and women were described in a weird way. still important to read though i guess

Rufus is a new journalist in Nigeria who is trying to find a kidnapped British woman, while trying to avoid both the rebels and the soldiers. A solemn novel, with a theme of justice in it's many forms.

read for Lynn Badia's Literature Of The Earth Class. I think it's probably the second to least favorite book of mine we've read so far, but nonetheless I thought it was a good story. Just got bored with the writing and felt that at some points it would have been more enjoyable to hear it as an audiobook rather than written word.
