I give each novella a 2.75 rating because honestly, they didn't really add anything to the main trilogy + prequel.
Each novella barely covered any aspect of the title's namesakes, which left me annoyed because I actually wanted to know more about Warden Crawford, the Scarlets, and the Bone Artists.
Instead you get POVs from the side characters of the trilogy and vague references to the title namesakes.
Did I like getting a few insights into those side characters? Sure, and that's why I even rated this close to 3.0 stars. But they didn't add anything to the overall series. I could have lived without reading these and that's why I'm so disappointed.

This is only gave this a 3 star because I really enjoyed the last story "The Warden" as it gives a back story to the life in the asylum when Warden Daniel Crawford was in charge.
However the other two stories The Scarlets that shows how students joined up with the secret society and The Bone artist follows Micah and his friend Oliver and their involvement with some highly illegal craiglist jobs didn't add that much to the series.
Sure it was nice getting a little more in The Bone Artist but as it didn't add or take anything away from the story I easily could've done without it.
To sum it up it was just slightly "meh"

Do I even need to make a review? I love the Asylum trilogy, and these stories fit in perfectly. They were perfectly creepy and fit together beautifully. Very sad to see this amazing series come to an end, but excited for new books to come.

I haven't read the trilogy yet, that's hopefully one of the next books from my tbr to go, but I loved these. I heard these were compared to Miss Peregrine and I can understand how that is. Sufficiently creepy, good writing, good story telling, the photos were awesome! I just loved this book. The Warden was my favorite though. I would recommend this book. 5 out of 5 stars.

I wasn't familiar with this series at all, but the title got me interested straight away. It's young adult - so my expetations where a little low. In it's genre I consider this book good, it's definitely creepy and spooky and thus very enjoyable.
