Gritty, twisty love story between a vampire and a vampire hunter (becoming less human with time). Deep into emotions, including doubt, though there's no doubt for the reader, thank goodness. My heart fretted so for these two, grateful for the short stories that take place after the official end to this series.

I had to leave and go to work in the middle of this book, and it hung with me all day. Through the committee meetings, through the office gossip, through microwaved lunch and the parking lot and getting home again. It was kind of steadily present on the horizon like a distant sunrise.

I thought absently about the 80s, about baby goths, about leather, and cheap clunker cars, and messy boys' bedrooms, and the road.

She's an awesome writer. It is so easy to review what's wrong with books; but when it's really good, I just sound stupid. It was wicked good. Yeah.
