This book is the true life story of Tom Michell who finds a Penguin covered in oil on a beach and rescues it. It follows his travels to Argentina where he works in a college and does a great job of showing the personality of the penguin Juan Salvador. It is heart warming especially as we see how the penguin touches the lives of so many people.
I think the book would have been better marketed as a book about a period of Michell's life rather than a book about a penguin as there are long texts about his other travels and life while away. This was interesting, especially reading about Argentina in the 1970s but wasn't exactly what I was hoping for.

This was quite cute, but it didn't feature the penguin quite as much as I'd expected. I feel like maybe there wasn't quite enough material to fill a book, and some of it felt a little stretched and padded.
