Não contava gostar tanto deste livro, mas a verdade é que me motivou a mudar alguns hábitos e rotinas e investir mais no meu bem-estar. Uma leitura interessante para quem não for cético à medicina ayurvédica.

This book is a unique combination of Eastern medicine and the science of Circadian rhythms. The author uses ancient Indian medicine to help the reader better align their lives to our natural sleep cycles which in turn will help us to optimize our health and wellbeing.

I thought the concepts she outlined about your body’s natural circadian rhythm were fascinating.

Took off a star because honestly it was a little boring.

Took off another star because my oh my does she make this complicated. I felt my anxiety go up as she tries to break down all the things you should or shouldn’t do, should it shouldn’t eat, depending on your body type (which she tries to have the reader categorize themself into one of three—I felt myself resonate with all three so I could never figure out what advice to take), and then it depends on the season (winter, spring, summer, fall) and which equinox means you should eat what or exercise when or... You get the picture I hope.
It, in my opinion, super over-complicated her point—which was to pay attention to your body cues, to connect mind to body leading to the connection of body to mind. Basically, if you sleep, exercise, and eat on a healthier and more regular schedule, you’ll be happier.

They’re really fascinating topics to uncover and learn about, but for practical application of wellness to someone’s life, this book was lacking.

While there are some helpful tips, most of this book’s overarching concepts feel too extreme, unsustainable, and the reasonings behind them are not convincing.

What I loved: the education and schedule suggestions around circadian rhythm, and the insistence on sleep importance and consistency. I will certainly implement many things I learned from this book. What I didn’t love: the constant referral to weight, as if it is the only or most important motive for making lifestyle changes, citing Ayurvedic theories as evidence without actual evidence, and all the TOXINS. Oh, the toxins. Honestly, most experts lose some if not most credibility with me if they rely on constant referral to flushing toxins from here and there. If it were more specific, or something that was actually real, I would take that part more seriously. So lots of good, lots of nope.

I borrowed this book from the library, but it's so good I plan to buy a copy. It is filled with quizzes to help determine your ayurvedic type, or dosha, relating to sleep, diet, and exercise. There are recipes, herbal supplement recommendations, and a simple plan at the end to help you start the process of changing your schedule for better health. I cannot recommend this book enough. I will be applying many of the recommendations to my own life.
