For no reason in particular cough he put their photo on insa without asking, therefore breaking trust, invading children's privacy and then acting like he was perfectly within his right to cough, I hate Gabe.
Also this book is so slow, it took me forever to read, but I will say Jamie was anxious without being obnoxious, which is a hard thing to master.
Loving the muslin, poc and jewish rep but I found the plot soooooo drawn out. OMG andSophie!! This is a great example of background queer characters done well! . Although this book felt a little patronising at many points, very motivational message above in character speach.

This was soo fucking good, for someone who doesn’t like romance books i rate them p high most of the time lol
The only reason it wasn’t 5 is cause it wasn’t totally believable that they went canvassing 1 time unwillingly and then we’re totally up for it after that

Very cute ya contemporary romance. It has good representation of a Pakistani-American Muslim teen girl. It also gets into politics, and touches on important issues. But it does it in a way that’s makes me so invested in it. I was emotionally attached to these characters, they are so precious. I also love how the narrative switches between both characters so that you can see the viewpoints of both of the characters. It is so cute, I really liked it. Jamie is so freaking precious. I’m so glad that he and Maya are ending up together. Their friendship is so sweet. Also, when they were on the phone with each other and watched “the office” together (like synced the TVs or something) and then fell asleep on the phone!! Aww precious.

This was a PERFECT Valentine's read. Light and heartwarming, but still with an important message!
Jamie and Maya rekindle their childhood friendship the summer before their senior year of high school while canvassing for a state senate special election. Neither of them starts the summer wanting to knock on doors and talk to strangers, but as they grow to understand the stakes of local politics, they develop a passion for the cause, a comfort with campaigning, and possibly more. ;)
I could really relate to Jamie and Maya's passion for campaigning, actually DOING something to help make the world a better place. I hope and pray this book inspires more young people to learn about and get involved in local politics.
