Look, I really like the premise of this series and think its very compelling overall. But nothing really all that important happens in this book - it's used entirely as a set up for the third book and after the slow plot in the first installment, my patience has worn out. I guess it remains to be seen if I'm wrong, but I was very frustrating by how there's entirely no action taken here, the characters are at basically the same place as before with minimal character development, if any at all.

C’était très intense, comme Tahereh Mafi sait très bien écrire ses livres, notamment dans les relations entre personnages, mais au-delà de ça… j’ai un peu eu l’impression qu’il ne se passait pas grand-chose pendant 400 pages. J’ai l’impression que c’est un peu un tome « transitoire », donc j’ai hâte de voir ce que le prochain réserve !

Did I enjoy the banter between Cyrus and Alizeh? Yes. Did I love the scenes with the side characters, especially sassy Hazan? Yes. Do I wish this didn’t fall into ‘just a filler sequel trap and wish it was fleshed out more’? YES! It was simply okay but could’ve been great.
