A steampunk, historical, thriller romance. I know that’s a lot of descriptions, but this book has them all. I enjoyed the story. The thriller part kept me on my toes, and the romance was a nice break from the murders. I could’ve done without some of the outfit descriptions; I just felt like they were abrupt and took my mind away from the story.

So I made it about half-way through this book. There was a lot of (questionable) romance and not very much focus on the mystery at hand. I found Cara's romantic choices implausible and rather disturbing given her history. It didn't seem to match with her self-sufficiency and independence.
