This was the first Gillian Flynn I ever read and absolutely loved it. The plot line had me hooked and I didn't want to put it down.

A good domestic thriller that got me out of my reading slump.

It was a fairly easy read and it kept me at the edge of my seat. Although I already saw the movie, reading the book gave me more insight about the character's thoughts. Would highly recommend this for those who would love to start reading thriller.

SpoilerWhat an absolutely wild book. I loved the multiple POVs and reading Amy’s “diary entries” in the first half of the novel. Finding out later on that those entries were literally crafted to support Amy’s narrative in framing Nick for her murder... well, it was a total mind f$&@. I mean, writing 7 years worth of realistic (in the sense of timeline) diary entries? The woman is sickeningly brilliant.

I felt bad for Nick. Cheating on Amy is obviously bad, but having him be set up to go down for a murder that didn’t even happen is just awful. And then having to live with Amy once she returns home and incriminates Desi as the one who kidnapped and assaulted her, NOT Nick, is also awful. She impregnates herself with Nick’s sperm to get him to stay with her, and it works. The ending implies that they are a time bomb, waiting to explode. They are quite literally, the nuclear family.

An exceptional piece of writing from Gillian Flynn, yet again.
