3.5 stars. I enjoyed the Moscow setting and I like the bear clan and the Mercants. I felt the romance between Theo and Yakov moved too fast - in just 2 or 3 days they're in love and mated. However, I gave bonus points for finally getting the rest of Pavel and Arwen's story. Although I wish it had been it's own book or novella instead of broken up and squeezed into the edges of multiple novels about other couples.

Another great psy-changeling relation ship, was glad to skip the brother tho. I preferred if there wasn’t any chapters about them exclusively. Great conclusion, poor Pax.

This book seemed the most disconnected from the rest of the world compared to the others in the series. We didn’t see much of the psy-net and there wasn’t nearly as many changes in pov as there usually is. While I still really enjoyed this one, I wish we got to see more.

It felt very isolated and it also seemed like the timeline was very short. It felt more like insta love instead of the slow build that I’m used to from this series and I don’t feel like it was very satisfying. I was also hoping to see more of the twin connection and maybe get a deeper look into scarab syndrome but I feel like it glossed over that (unless Pax will be a main character in the future).

As always, the writing was really good and it read super fast. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. It just felt like it was lacking in something that the other books in the series had.
