I liked this book better than the last one in the series because there were characters that weren't all white, post-war men who had similar experiences. I had such a rough time telling them apart in the first book. I also very much liked the addition of the female detective Emma Holmes. Also a super terrifying crime, and I appreciate the respect for the experiences and intelligence of children.

Unfortunately for me, not as gripping as Elly Griffiths's other books.
The theatre element of the story was interesting but the pace was too slow.

Second in the Brighton series, which I don't think is as good as Ruth Galloway. This one was far more enjoyable than book 1, but I think needed a few more breadcrumbs for the big reveal to be believable.
