I have to let this sit in my head for a while before I can comment. I really liked the review in the Guardian.

I was mistaken about the Nobel prizes; the author won the Nobel prize for her body of work not for this one book.

Amazingly written, philosophical, crime thriller, and character driven story. The absolute genius that went into the writing of this book is astounding! I'm now in love in Olga Tokarczuk as a writer!

#AlisaReadstheWorld: Poland

Imagine Amelie was an old Polish witch (the hag sort). That’s really all you need to know.

The audiobook narration was great!

Since I picked it up from a brief comment on TrueLit and did not bother to read the tags, I truly had no idea where any of this was going until the end was near. Peculiar book about a peculiar old lady and some peculiar murders. Crime-fiction's not my cuppa, but I did enjoy some of Janina's little musings - even those about astrology.
