I loved this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Really interesting world and engaging characters.

Surely this book can’t be serious.

 Oh boy, so many things to say here. First of all, this was the first series in over 10 years that I DNF'd (never got past the first book). The writing is mediocre at best, the descriptions are trite and cliche, and it reads like fanfiction written by a middle-schooler. The main character, Feyre, is whiny, unlikable, and overall bland and annoying, she reads like a textbook self-insert mary sue who is the best at everything, except being girly because she's "not like other girls". The plot makes no real sense, and the story takes forever to move forward, usually with more focus on the smutty romance bits than the actual storyline. This story has just taken Katniss from the Hunger Games, poorly reskinned her, and dumped her in a wannabe dark and raunchy beauty and the beast ripoff. I could maybe see how it could be enjoyable for a horned up middle schooler/ early high schooler, but this book is not for anyone who wants actual substance to their stories.

This was my first ever Fantasy romance book & now I'm obsessed with it. The plot is set in a world where humans & the faeries, who once enslaved them live separated by a wall built under a Treaty. One day when Feyre, a 19 y/o huntress, kills a faerie wolf, she is brought to the faerie lands and taken captor by a High Fae. Basically this book is a retelling of “Beauty and the beast”. Now, you might think that it would continue with a Disney tale, but no becomes so much more packed with adventure & life.

The first 4 chapters are slow paced just to set up the story but after that it gradually increases & after those first few chapters, I was fully enthralled. It piqued my curiosity & kept me wanting to know what happens next. The action- it's so stunning that I just couldn't get enough of the serotonin.🫠
Now the plot twists.. this book keeps you on your toes the entire time & then drops the bomb on you, in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE.

I'm in love with SJM's writing cuz the execution and imagery is just outstanding. She's truly an expert at creating such exceptional & contrasting characters & I love 'em. Speaking of love, I'd like to tell all my romance readers out there that: despite being a major fantasy series, it has the most beautiful romance, you'll ever read. MARK MY WORDS

<Spoilers>
<<<<<🔸I love Feyre. She's strong, loyal and also has her own personal issues mainly cuz of her typical fairytale family which is horrible. Her character development was really good.
🔸Tamlin's character is shy, sweet & strong. But compared to all the other characters in the book his felt a bit stiff.
🔸Rhysand- our anti-hero has played the bad-boy role so nicely. By the end of the book I knew that there's going to be a  love triangle in the upcoming books.👀 >>>>>

I'm writing this review after reading half of the entire series & that's cuz the ending of this book left me so excited & adrenalized that I just couldn't wait to read other books in the series.
Definitely going to read other books by SJM.🫶🏼
