Was this supposed to be a romance? I just wasn’t really feeling it at all, there was literally no chemistry between Chloe and Sanji. I enjoyed anything to do with Deepak and Lali, I think I probably would have liked it better if it had just been a story about them. I didn’t really care much for any of the other characters, not even Chloe. Being in a wheelchair myself I thought I would relate to this, but I just didn’t really.

The neighbors drove me a bit mad (they were all so dislikeable!!!) but I enjoyed the characterisation of Sanjit and found the background story of Chloe and Deepak interesting.

I liked the one. It's an inside look of the residents and elevator operators of a swanky building in Manhattan. So many people with so many flaws and yet so much good.
It was a quick easy read with a hint of romance. It was about family loyalty, first impressions, judgement against others, living life and doing the right thing. I read a different book by this author last year. And I can't remember it at all. And I kind of think that will be the case with this one. Enjoyable, but maybe not the most memorable book I've ever read.

This showed up in my amazon daily deals one day and the premise sounded promising so I took a chance. But in the end, this book did not do it for me. It was a cute, easy read so I finished it, but I was glad to be done. I would add this to the "easy, beach reads" category, so if that's what you're looking for, this book is probably for you. A little bit romance, a little bit of history (I did think it was neat to learn about elevator operators), a little bit minority representation (BIPOC and disability) and then a little bit of mystery thrown in at the end, because WHY NOT?!

We learn early on that our main character is in a wheelchair, the result of some type of accident. But she doesn't want to talk about it and it's not until the VERY end of the book that you find out how she came to be in a wheelchair. And when you find this out, it's very hard not to think about what the motive was in keeping this a secret the entire book. Because her reason for being in said wheelchair could have added so much value to the story in my humble opinion.

But that grievance aside, the plot was just unbelievable, the characters were 2 dimensional and I think this book had a hard time deciding what it really wanted to be: romance? chick-lit? mystery? comedy-of-errors? 2.5 stars.
