🌟 Thriller

Every character in this book bar Heather and Doug are AWFUL. I don't think I've ever seen so many unlikeable characters in the one place 🤣 I could not wait to find out who the victim was, never mind the perpetrator, because it could've been any of them and I'd still have been delighted. There was no way for me to be disappointed here.

Not interesting at all. Plot is predictable and a little bit dumb. I wouldn't recomend to read this book for those who love mysterious detective stories.

With the wintry isolated setting, a tense party of old friends, and toxic female friendships, I was reminded a lot of Ruth Ware's In a Dark, Dark Wood. I preferred this one. Didn't love it though.

I liked the plot structure. I really like dual timelines, and the decision to withhold the victim's identity. And how so many characters felt like legitimate suspects. If you want a book with likeable characters, keep looking. I think this is the aspect of the genre that stops me from truly loving it. The mystery keeps me reading, but I never get all that invested in the characters.

Great winter read. I wanted more from the ending - some of the writing in the last few chapters felt lazy but otherwise well done. Lucy Foley manages to keep the surprises well hidden for the most part but some things I did see coming. I read The Guest List first and it has many similarities.

I love Lucy Foley and her way of unraveling her mysteries. I love the dissection of toxic friendships, isolation, and recovering from trauma. There’s a lot to take in from the story and the literary devices used throughout. I definitely recommend this book!

Another isolated mystery from Foley, although a lot of similarities with The Guest List. 

* A unlikeable and over privileged group of friends in an isolated location (this time an exclusive Scottish highlands lodge for NYE), cut off by the weather 
* skeletons in the closet and secrets in the group 
* multiple POVs (some more unlikeable than others)
