I always enjoy Lucy Foleys books, but this one was a little slow to start for me. There were a lot of characters and it was missing a little bit to me. The ending seemed somewhat rushed and i think there were some points that i would have enjoyed being explained further however… the gasp i gusped when it was revealed that heather pushed Katie out of the way! Crazy

This book was low key boring. The red herring was so random, and the ending was predictable. And then the very end felt like she was trying to fit in way too much.
It wasn’t a bad read, but it wasn’t a good one.

Still a fun little mystery. The characters just weren't very likable and there's a decent sized plot hole at the very end. Also listening to this while camping in the woods will 100% give you the spookies

Let me start by saying I love a thriller/mystery that takes place across two timelines. Receiving details from the past and present simultaneously helps build the tension and creates that sense of creeping foreboding. I really enjoyed the way this book laid out the cast of characters and slowly revealed who they are as you continued reading. The way this book w was written felt like the slow pulling of a rubber band, creating tension, and I had this sense of waiting for it to snap. The suspense as you try to discern what took place and who was involved made it hard for me to put it down. The reveals at the end were so satisfying as the full picture was painted. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s not the first book I’ve read by this offer and likely won’t be the last.

Maybe like a 3.5- the first half was slow and I couldn’t figure out what was going to be the point- it picked up later. Pretty decent ending. I still need to read the guest list.

Not everything has to be “no one knew my secret….” The plot and suspense in the book was good enough to not have to project that there is all this other dramatic stuff the reader will learn later on.

I listened to this on audiobook & frankly I think I enjoyed it all the much more for this. The cast of voice over actors & actresses really brought the landscape of the Scottish Highlands in deep winter alive. I guessed who the murdered was well over half way through the book, but still found the story enjoyable despite that.
