Flashback by Rhian Cahill is a book set in The Everyday Heroes World, a series of books written by multiple authors. It has been a long, long time since I read anything by Ms. Cahill, who is a favorite author of mine. She is an author whose voice I fell in love with from the very first moment I indulged in the magical effect of her stories featuring heroes who are a tad on the grumpy side, and her penchant for delivery on the sexual heat that permeates and resonates through the stories.

32 year old Mazey Novak (Maz), head of trauma nursing at Anaheim Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in LA decides to make a fresh start when things go awry with her fiance who lies to her every step of the way in their relationship. More than the sense of betrayal she had felt in learning the truth, it had been the looks of disgust from her colleagues and people she had known that had propelled her to move and start anew. When Maz is offered the position of a flight nurse at Mercy-Life, a company specializing in medevac, she does not need much convincing.

Her new life comes with the walking talking temptation that is 39 year old Rylan Conners. Having served in the military for 20 years with the physical and emotional scars to show for it along with a divorce to his name, Rylan is at first skeptical that the new hire would prove to be reliable. Once bitten, twice as shy, Rylan is wary of women who pretend to be something they are not, a lesson that he had learnt to the bitter end when it comes to his ex-wife.

However, from the very start, the easy sense of camaraderie that he finds with Maz along with the simmering sexual tension between them which becomes harder to ignore by the day makes him realize that there is more to Maz than he initially thought. Things come to a head under the most heartbreaking of circumstances, and from that moment onward it becomes more difficult to ignore what feels so right between them. But their fragile bond is tested by fragments of their pasts, each carrying baggage that has left emotional scars on them.

I loved Flashback for the most part which made for pretty easy reading. I loved both Rylan and Maz – both were relatable with feelings that are only too real for people who have held the short end of the stick when it comes to relationships that take everything from you. At the same time, I did miss the searing scenes of passion in the story, something that I have come to expect when it comes to Ms. Cahill’s work.

Recommended for those who love a good contemporary romances featuring likable characters who steals your heart for all the right reasons.

Final Verdict: Flashback delivers on the heart and heat that is synonymous with every book penned by Ms. Cahill.

What a fun, sweet, sexy read from Rhian Cahill in the KB World of Everyday Heros!!!

Great read - wonderful characters! It was great to see how Rylan and Mazey could each overcome their pasts and the trials of finding each other to reach their HEA!

Can't wait for Jack & Alyssa's story & to find out what happens to Jake and Maddox.

An easy, quick-to-read romance. When I say fast-paced, this is the definition of fast-paced, so just be prepared for that and abandon some expectations 😉

Mazey & Rylan's latest relationships have both gone terribly and especially Mazey is very reluctant to start another one but in the end, they can't really help themselves.
It is all very insta-lovey but still enjoyable.

I couldn't really get behind Rylan's actions sometimes — he promises one thing and does something else and that kinda put me off his character. There were also a lot of repetitive passages and at the start, a lot of character traits just seem easily forgotten.

I didn't see the twist at the end coming but it was handled well and worked for the characters.

Despite its faults, I'm excited to read the sequel and other books in the universe.

* * I HAD BEEN GIVEN AN ADVANCE READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW * *

I have not read anything by Rhian before but I will look into more of her books.

The relationship Rylan and Maz have forged is sweet soft and natural. They are the every couple we hope to be with that happy balance of friendship and love.

I enjoyed how no matter the past that was before this they used that pain and lessons learned to shape the road ahead, whether it was intentional or not for them. They are both relatable and strong in the sense they are not 1 dimensional characters.

I only gave it 4 stars for the fact that it is an every day hero story and we saw very little of what made them that in this story, just a snippet that lead us to the incredible journey. And I also didn't care for the abrupt end into the epilogue, it felt like there was more to be said and was unfinished.

I do recommend this book as an easy romance read with steamy interludes.

This book is part of The Everyday Heroes World. I started reading Flyboy and it mentioned Ry and Mazey somewhere before I started that book. I decided to take a look at this book in Amazon and found out it was in Kindle Unlimited so I checked it out. I’m glad I did. I loved how Ry and Mazey found one another. I can’t wait to read Flyboy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I just love hanging out in Sunnyville! With realistic characters that you love spending time with, and this addition to this series of stand alones is no exception. Rhian Cahill did an amazing job, giving the characters depth and emotion. She made me care about what happens to them. She makes you want to root for them.

This was a beautifully written story of two people who need to unpack their baggage and learn to trust and love again. I loved it and look forward to the next 2 stories she has written for this Everyday Hero world !

Rylan and Mazey are two people who know heartbreak, but can they find their forever love? Mazey who was unknowingly the other woman. Now she’s in Sunnyvale getting a fresh start. Rylan Connor’s wife cheated, and got pregnant by his best friend Luke. So once his divorce is final he heads to Sunnyvale for a fresh start. A relationship that first started out as Friends With Benefits; Can it be more? Another amazing love story between two people who weren’t sure they would ever get their happy ever after. Also another story taking place in K Bromberg’s driven world, and Rhian Cahill gave us an amazing love story.
