One of the greatest novels ever written, if you believe the critics. I don't know about that but this was certainly one of the longest and most repetitive books i have ever read. It was one of those stories that could have been infinitely improved with a fifth of the words used.

A tiring read that isn't nearly as rewarding as it should be for finishing. I mean, when you reach the last line you should be greeted with a ticker-tape parade, a bombastic eulogy delivered by some revered academic and a key to a city, not a major international city but maybe the key to Leeds or Manchester or another northern powerhouse. Instead you just have a door-stop with a dull cover that you'll never open again. Even a hug would have been nice.

Hayatımda okuduğum en zevkli kitap bu olmalı. Değeri hiçbir zaman düşmeyecek, tıpkı 400 yıldır düşmediği gibi.

In terms of comedy, this book is at times damned hilarious! There were a couple of times I had to stop reading because I was laughing so hard at the insanity and misadventures of Don Quixote and Sancho. Honestly, I only made it about one-third of the way through. The story goes off on several tangents, and not all are exactly page-turners. It doesn't help that the style of writing is extremely prolix and over-the-top eloquent. Maybe some day I'll pick this book back up and finish the tale.

Not sure why I chose to pick up this book, I know I was trying to read more classics, but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It's funny. I chuckled through the whole thing. The main character is so easy to root for and I never wanted to put the book down. It's one of my favorites now and I recommend it to people all the time. If the size scares you, get the audio book! I did listen to some parts of it while at work and that was also very cinematic.
