I think this little book is under appreciated for what it is. It's a brilliant little resource and needs to be used more often in classrooms.

It had my class thinking about the Australian Indigenous English language. It had them visually seeing the difference between the Indigenous people and the cruel things the "white bosses" were doing to them. I could even see a few of my children looking back and forth and realising what was happening.

The hidden messages are there and with a little help and activities the younger children will easily capture it.

I enjoyed it myself and it taught me some things I did not know. How Indigenous people used the Dreamtime to create stories of hope, how the constantly evolve and do not remain in the past like Christian Beliefs.

This review is choppy but I genuinely enjoyed how the harsh (and very much needed truth of racism/slavery, etc) content can be accessed by children so young and brought to life in a way that they understood.
