This was such a great read. I loved reading more of Clara and Fin's story. While I love the first book and the smut this book has more depth. There are some hard topics that are discussed in this book. It was so refreshing to read that while Clara and Fin are in a healthy relationship they both still struggle with their own insecurities and finding ways to communicate with each other about those insecurities. I enjoyed the new characters that we got to meet. Some of the quotes for this book also have me in a chokehold. my favorite being: “Parents give us our existence,” I say quietly. “But they can also ruin us before we’ve even begun to live.” Wildly amazing.

If I finish a book in a day, whipping out the trusty kindle at every possible opportunity including the dentist, I know it’s a keeper.

A Court of Hearts and Hunger gave me Adult Barbie (specifically Magic of Pegasus, Swan Lake, Rapunzel) x Once Upon a Time (because who doesn’t love a twisted fairytale) and had me devouring Clara, Fin, and Alice’s adventures faster than the Heartless ate hearts.

I really liked this one much more than the first, which is saying a lot as The Nutcracker is one of my all-time favorite stories, and Alice isn't, but here we are.

There was a lot more in-depth plot in this one, which I was really happy to see. While there is still a ton of smut and “spice” it wasn't as heavily focused on, and there was still a decent plot for me to follow.

I think I wanted more of Alice here, though. And more of the queen. We saw a few glimpses of her and her chaos, but I wanted more of a focus on her and her destruction. Too much of this book was based around Clara and Fin, and to be quite honest here, they already got their story.

Here's the thing. I don't really like these books. (I'm sorry, why am I here?) But I also love retellings… and this one was a step above the last, and the next is an Oz retelling… so I'm hoping I love the next one (even though I didn't love the last 2) and I'm forging on! Fingers crossed.

I really didn't think I would love anything more than A Court of Sugar and Spice yet here we are... Rebecca really outdid herself in this one. The imagination of these retellings is so fantastic. The White Rabbit and The Cheshire Cat really stole the show for me, I loved them ALMOST as much as Finias. I would love to see more of these two (and Alice) in further books along with Finias and Clara because I just can't get enough of them. I really cannot wait to see what Rebecca comes up with for the next book!!!
