What a wow! Beautifully written story of a family and their friends enduring the horrors of the Biafran Wars. I felt connected with each character. I cared for each one and when I finished the book I found myself thinking about them, wondering how they are now. A new favourite author.

This wasn’t an easy read but when I finished it, it felt satisfying, if that makes sense. Like an exhale.

I tend to enjoy novels written with different perspectives, and I think this one is really well done. The choice of voices is quite interesting, as the characters chosen to tell the story come from varied social backgrounds.

“This was love: a string of coincidences that gathered significance and became miracles.”

Ay, no tengo palabras.

“There are some things that are so unforgivable that they make other things easily forgivable.”
