funny pop science book! Cool balance of history of medicine and science. Found it dry at times and it felt disorganized. An entire chapter about farts was ....interesting.

A very interesting read about that familiar yet alien place within our bodies: The alimentary canal. Mary Roach examines the alimentary canal from food intake to, well, output. Ms. Roach writes like she's sharing a story with a friend, and I found this to be a fascinating listen. One warning: You may not want to listen to this book (about what happens to your food) while eating... my reaction to some facts was a combination of wow, interesting and ew, gross! Recommended.

The best way I can sum this one up is, "Eww." There some pretty nasty stuff in here, along with some silliness and a fair bit of fascinating information. And some stuff I didn't want or need to know. Listening to the audio cd was definitely the right way to go for this book. Definitely not for everyone, but if you think you can stomach it, go for it.

Whoa - parts disgusting and a few parts a little boring - but really I was FASCINATED by almost all of it. Mary Roach has made me look at the alimentary canal with newfound respect. Poop and saliva and the gut in general are just plain interesting. She taught me things that I never even knew I wanted to learn - prison rectal smuggling? Gross but I couldn't stop learning about it all at the same time.

DNF.  I thought I would have liked this because of my job, but alas, this was very boring.

Mary Roach writes a good book. From Burping to Faecal transplants this one covers anything and everything that happens to the alimentary tract. Not to be read whilst eating it remains really interesting look inside our bodies
