This is a really fun book, the 4th book in Resnick's "Esther Diamond" series. The characters, as always, are interesting and the laughs come fast and furious. I actually did laugh out loud a couple of times.

It's also a pretty good twist on all the old vampire lore. These aren't your sparkly vamps.

It does slow down a bit with a lot of backstory, and the book itself takes place over only a couple of days. It ultimately feels like not a lot happens, and the timeline for a couple of the characters' travels seems a little off.

But that being said, it's still a fun ride.

This series is so much fun! Esther is a hoot, seeming to take things in stride. She's definitely more brave than I. I love that I can laugh while reading the scary stuff. It's eye-rolling at times, but I laugh and that's okay.
Cool premise of the vampire lore here, the fakers, the made and the true born. Esther has her hands full with a full time gig in a play with only four actors, two of which are divas to the max. Add to the mix the crazy fans who attack each night and I wasn't sure who was the more evil...vampire serial killer or the crazed fans who attacked Esther in hopes of gaining the attention of her costar who claims to be a vampire.
I do want Lopez, the cop/almost boyfriend, to get his act together. He has some kind of ability that he is not admitting to and he cares for Esther and she for him. GET TOGETHER!! She definitely deserves happiness. And less hectic gig. But maybe she thrives on it....
I can definitely recommend this book, this series and this author.

3.5 stars. This was a fun addition to the Esther Diamond series. We get some flashbacks to Max's past and finally find out the big deal about Lithuanians. Resnick continues with the trend of telegraphing the villain way ahead of time (do all of her bad guys have to be so predictably unlikeable?) Love the setting of the fact that Esther is playing a character based from Polidori's the Vampire in an off broadway play with a lead actor who claims to be a vampire and is apparently as popular as the ubiquitous RPatz from the Twilight series, it was a fun spoof.

Altogether this was more enjoyable than the last one, Esther continues to be a likeable and pragmatic protagonist that is fun to follow.

Always enjoyable but this one wasn't quite as good as the previous Esther Diamond outing, mainly becasue there wasn't enough Lopez. I understand why both Esther & Lopez aren't dating and I think it worked well in the story so far but given how much they both obviously love each other it is time for them to find a way to work things out before the whole "love you can't be together" thing gets old.

I finally finished a book! *happy dance* This was a nice rest from the intense/dark reading I've been doing. I'm glad I stuck with it. The ending was what really had me hooked and I wish more of the book had been like that, with all the interesting action and all, but it's a fun read.
