Thank you Barbara Abel, HarperVia and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC e-book. I don't even know what or how I am feeling after this book. What an absolute ride. This book made me say "what the ...." out loud more times then I want to admit. I felt one way thought most of the book and then BAM I'm hit with the truth and it left such an unsettling weird feeling I really thought about this book for a few days. Abel wrote such a great psychological thriller/mystery that kept you wondering the entire time. I completed this book faster than I have any others because I had to figure out what was going on.

Trigger Warning: This is about the accidental death of a 6yo boy and how his parents, his parents’ best friends and his 6yo best friend handle the sadness, guilt, and grief of his death. Having said that this has everything I usually look for in a thriller. Tight plotting, great character development, short chapters that make you want to read just one more and an ending that I would never have seen coming in a million years. And, I can honestly say it is a book that I will remember for a long, long, time. I picked this up because it is soon to be a major motion picture with Jessica Chastain and Jane Hathaway and I can’t wait to see if they stay true to the book or if they decide the American audience can’t handle the ending – a la what was done with The Bad Seed.
