This was a very well-written book! I loved hearing her story, both of her personal and professional lives as a Latina and as a woman.
I am still processing what I read about the horror of the detention camps.
Highly recommend!

Pretty impressive to write a memoir that is also an exposé of American immigrant “policy.” Hinojosa is one of my local library’s featured author lectures this season, and I’m so glad because otherwise I might not have found this book.

I liked listening to the stories of immigration throughout the decades through a journalist’s eyes who also could relate to the people she was interviewing. I feel like I would’ve liked this book more if I had even an inkling of more journalism history under my belt, but I still was able to enjoy this nonetheless
