This volume feels, to me, like more of a place setter. I'm hoping volume 4 moves things along a lot more.

This is Redwall but with far more blood and teeth. The first two volumes of this series weren't bad. The myth building was well done, the characters were interesting. But the third volume really starts to bring everything together. In part, this is because we finally have more female characters doing things, and plot lines are starting to come together. Glass and Co take human legend - such as about the Templar, but Joan of Arc, Macbeth and so on - and presents it in a Mouse Kingdom that is struggling to be. The stories address the conflicts of faith, destiny, and desire. Loyalty is test and characters learn. This is what an animal fable should be.
