This was a really good book, I love it how "Lara Adrian" put vengence and old loves into the same story line. Andreas & Roth had, had a fued for a long time and it deepened when Roth killed his Darkhaven. Well in Roth doing that it brought Andreas and Claire back together reigniting (no pun intended) their love, while Andreas seeks revenge and battles his Pyro tendencies, he ends up killing Roth and after a final battle of Andreas coming to terms with his pyrokenesis. Him and Claire get their happy ending YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY. BUT!!!!!! the ancient has escaped "RUH ROH GEORGE!" big trouble is coming.

My least favourite of the series so far. I just didn't feel the love between Andreas and Claire.

ASHES OF MIDNIGHT takes us further into the battle against Dragos and brings us back to Andreas who we met in [MIDNIGHT AWAKENING. I enjoyed this one a lot but I did miss the charming and easy going Andreas that we met from before. After the murder of his Darkhaven he's been consumed by his anger and his need for vengeance and this fuels his fire ability. But even under all the anger we see Andreas's need to protect and his desire to help the Order with their mission. Claire might not recognize this new Andreas but she refuses to give up on him and her compassion is the only thing that can save him.

I really loved these two together but boy did they take my emotions through the ringer! There's so much hurt in their history and it's not easy to overcome considering the circumstances that have brought them together again. But their love for each other was crystal clear from the first moment. While ASHES OF MIDNIGHT is focused on Andreas and Claire, there's still plenty of appearances by the Order and all the great characters we've met along the way. And Tegan giving advice on love and women was sending me!

3.5 stars.( first book i've read in the series) I started out really liking this authors work, then it slowly started to get very familiar and predictable... no surprises. : (
I enjoyed the story and the characters but it was too similar to another series the Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. Breed men are Alphas, they must find their Breed mates, females that they bond with and need to drink from. There is an evil, who uses/imprisons many Breed Mates experimenting and impregnating them to make and evil army. The group called the order must fight this evil while dealing with the bonding of Breed/mates as well.
Even with the overuse of this storyline I am going to read the next book, just incase she steps out of the box.

Thrilling, suspenseful second chance romance. The reader is learning more about the evil weaving its way through the Breed.

I have never been one for revenge but if anyone deserved justice it is Andre. Loved reading how it unfolded.

11/12/19 The audiobook is wonderful.

Although I can understand Rikens hesitation at getting close to Claire it really annoyed me I wanted to jump it the pages and shake him.

I'm not 100 percent on with that a breed mate can be mated without being in love. It just puts the whole true mates thing into disarray a bit and doesn't make the pairing as special, still I enjoyed this story.

Omg. I love this series. I really enjoy that the women of the order got a more active role in this book instead of just waiting around till sundown for the men. I would have like to have read more about how hunter and Mira interact but still really enjoyed the book. I'm really glad Andreas got a happy ending just would have liked more prospect of a baby between them as well to seal the happy ever after but there's more books and time for that L Adrian to right them In. Can't wait.

It was strange reading about Andre in this book because he seemed so different. There was so much sadness in him that it was heartbreaking. Claire being with Roth was just so wrong from the beginning that I had a hard time believing that she willingly mated with him. But she did seem a bit niave. Andre and his pyro was a great add to the mix. I wasn't sure how they were going to save him many times, especially at the end. I was glad that they ended up together.

Andreas' story. I've been waiting for it and was only slightly frustrated while reading.

And not with the characters or the action or the steamy love scenes, but with the constant battle Andreas had to get through to finally realize that a) Claire wasn't going anywhere and b) he could control his power without hurting her. I know he had to go through it all, I know he had to lose everything to see what he was gaining, but my heart kept breaking for them over and over again. Plus, I love a tortured, selfless hero as much as the next girl, but I prefer resolution that occurs before the last minute so I can enjoy the relationship a little bit longer than the epilogue.

I do like Andreas and Claire together, though, and I love how she is yet another strong woman in this series. And that scene in the chocolate/candy shop? Priceless. :)

I also really enjoyed seeing the rest of the Order and "catching up" with them a bit.

I enjoyed this sixth installment of the series and look forward to Shades of Midnight.
