Ebook DNF @ 44%

Summary: A band of shifters has been savaging the larger community, when the FMC meets a mysterious man in the woods (who turns out to be more than she thinks).

Stats: PNR/Shifter, CRish, M/F, open door, part of a series (I think it ends on a cliffhanger/incomplete story).

Notes: It’s not that I didn’t enjoy or like the part of this book I read, it just wasn’t really keeping my interest.  It’s just all over the place in both plot and character, and I don’t feel the world-building is up to carrying the weight.  It’s confusing and not interesting enough for me to try to keep working though it.

Incomplete, but still spoilery, Content Warnings (CW) and Trigger Warnings (TW)
Spoilerdeath of sibling, restraint with hands, reluctance/slight noncon (super mild), blood and gore, violence (wolf/wolf, shifter/wolf), DV (mother slaps FMC), "crazy" talk (bipolar as an insult, etc), noncon kissing (not between MCs, SA of the FMC by ex), power play, death/homicide/murder, "cripple" (FMC about herself), death of parent, dissociative personality disorder (MMC), mention of self harm, minor medical scenes, marking, pussy slapping, mention of rape, organized fighting

Meh

This started off strong, but got worse and worse and worse as I read. So many things got brought up and dragged out. So many details that were focused on that didn't move the story forward. I got bored and lost but I made myself finish the book....then regretted that I finished it. I want to give the next one a chance just to see if it gets better....but asking myself if it would be a waste of my time.

This is a great first book in the series. Aurora and Ares have a captivating story filled with emotion, mystery and great interactions. Characters are complex and easy to feel for. I am very excited to read book 2.

I wanted to dabble into werewolf romances. And I think I got way in and over my head. The smut in this was great but the plot lacked so much. But it’s probably more a preference than anything. I just can’t with fantasy/supernatural books. Still liked the characters. Aurora was great and I loved her badassness. As for ares/Mars. I didn’t like the split personality. As it is it’s you have to keep up with the “wolf personality” would of been better if it was only two. I don’t know what it says about me. But I really like ares way more than Mars. As alpha Mars wouldn’t have passed. But I get that he was suppose to be gentle with aurora. When I think of werewolves gentle is not it.

Holy werewolf on a cracker!

Best werewolf shifter book I've read in a long time! I loved the fact that there was no savior in this story; the hero and heroine recognize their "flaws" as being fundamental to who they are, and how together they are much stronger. Because, in this case, the math adds up: two "negatives" equal a positive.

This book has some triggers. It also has lots of graphic boudoir (and non-boudoir!) scenes, so don't be shocked.
