Lmao, this book..... I don't even know what to say.
The book started good and gave me such high hope, but the FMC cries ALL.THE.TIME. She's suppose to be this strong and independent woman who takes no shit, but she cries in every other page. One time she even cried over a newspaper because she missed reading it so much lol.

The word "cried" is used 41 times in the book. "Cry" is used 23 times. "Cries" two times and "tear/tears" 88 fucking times.

The sentence "I needn’t have worried." is used 6 times.
This author need an editor (or a better editor).

Spoilers below:

This is an extreme fast-burn and insta-love. The whole book takes place over a 3 week-span. They tell each other "I love you" after knowing each other for THREE WHOLE WEEKS and they only hung out 1 (O-N-E) week. It's ridiculous.

Some other reviewer pointed out the 180° turn the MMC's did in the end is extremely unrealistic. They have built up their whole operation from scratch and suddenly want to throw the whole thing out because of a girl they have hung out with ONE week?!
Also, the FMC SA the FMC in day one (or was it two). She stills "miss them" and "love them" after one week. Bfr.

Alexi being the bad guy was clear from day one, absolutely no plot-twist what so ever.

They also calls each other "married" and "wife" even tho they aren't married yet. The FMC even lost a contract because of the "morality clause" because she was married to some gangsters (even tho she wasn't!!). Makes no sense.

Don't think I will read the second book.

Honestly I would have loved this book had it not been for the blatant sexual assault in the first %50 of the book. Reviews mentioned something that was hard to get past in the beginning of the book but nothing prepared me for that. Quite honestly I was debating DNFing about 100 pages in. If you're uncomfortable with anything resembling CNC I definitely wouldn't read this. Once you get past that, the relationship between Ginerva, Liam, Rian, and Cormac is actually very balanced and pleasant for a mob poly relationship. It never feels like one member gets more time than another and everyone has important roles both in the mob and the relationship. The plot is well written and sensible, making every choice reasonable and action sensible. This being said I wouldn't read this again or recommend it solely based on the first 150 pages.

“No, I was going home for Sophia.”

DAMN. Diamond In The Dark was so good.

Ginevra Russo is a girlboss by herself; but add her to the boys? Unstoppable. Knowing that her life would come crashing down around her when she came back home after a decade? Keeping control of her needs when she goes into a poly relationship? Ugh, I LOVE her.

All 3 boys; Rian, Liam and Cormac, agreeing to marry Ginevra, only to be blindsided and actually fall in love with her. Each of them have something special about them that makes you love them even harder. I dare you to choose a favorite out of them, because I can’t.

Just the way they all take care of her; from the intimate moments to knowing when she needs to not be in control.

And that entire scene at the fights when they first get there?

Diamond In The Dark was an absolute joy to read, I fell in love from the first page. I fell in love with Jacobson’s writing and I cannot believe this is their debut.

If you need another dark mafia why-choose romance in your life (and yes, you do), pick this up. Like now.

“ “Beg for my forgiveness, Liam.’ “

“ “God, Cormac, love isn’t about being deserving enough. It’s sliding into each other’s jagged cracks and edges and tangling ourselves up in each other, somehow more whole together than apart. I found you, and I held you tight. Liam came back into our lives, and we snatched him up, too. And we’re not going to let Ginevra go either. Because she’s f*cking perfect.’ “
