Too many typos, cringe-y sentences. I like characters to have interesting backnstories and this was not it.

Read as a part of the #stayathomereadingrush for the read a book in the same room the whole time challenge (Is it cheating because this was only a little over an hour of my time?).
When I saw Easter Cookie and read the blurb I was excited by the prospect of some kind of Vegas romp between competitors but that isn't how this cookie crumbles.

It's the story of Natalie and Stephen, they're childhood friends turned rivals both in the event planning business. I expected the entire 60-something pages to be in Vegas competing in some fashion but instead I felt like I was accidentally reading an entirely other novel as it spends the first half backstage in LA at a concert for a band explored in one of Liz Gavin's other series'. I haven't read any of her other books so I was a little confused by all the characters but I'm sure for her fans it was fun to see them all again. I wish the story had embraced its brevity more and cut a lot of the extra details so we could get more of the actual characters and their dynamics. It didn't feel complete (maybe it isn't meant to) and I was left wishing we'd had less of everything else: less extra characters, less plot and less additional detail that didn't show who these characters are and what they mean to one-another. As a reader, I didn't really feel privy to their opinions on one another and it never read as hate or enemies to lovers. Perhaps if it was framed more as a slice of life in a frenemies with benefits situation I would've enjoyed it more.

There were a few examples of formatting errors and a couple of typos but I am aware that English is not the author's first language.

This really didn't do anything for me unfortunately but it was short and is currently (April 17 2020) free on the Amazon store so IF you are interested in checking it out now is a good time.
