YALL...I'm so serious. You have to read this. I don't know how I didn't discover Cates before this because he's such a damn good writer. His complex handling of Venom really comes through in this issue. Venom isn't traditionally recognized as one of the good guys and with good reason; however, in this issue readers get to see a more "humane" side of Brock that doesn't want to fall victim to the dark forces at work that are actively affecting his symbiote. Of course, I've already read issue #3 and issue #4 so I knew exactly how this was going to lead into the next part of the story that will include Miles Morales. After reading this I think that I came to the realization that I'm a fan of morally grey characters. The artwork is absoltuely stunning as ALWAYS and works so very well with the story/history that Cates attempts to cover in this issue.
