You find out a bit more about the cabal and what/who Tom really is. However, the revelations aren't anything I hadn't guessed already so it wasn't exceptionally thrilling. The scene in the cave was quite action packed though.

The shadowy cabal makes a move, forcing Wilson out from the shadows. There’s a very excellent choose-your-own-adventure issue that’s double the size by splitting pages in half, all about Lizzie’s backstory. More reveals than anything previous, and one or two plot tangents are closed entirely (AFAI remember).

The concept of a liminal, physical space for both the mark a story has on culture and history, while also putting a different importance on the relationships to stories, is such a fantastic device and commentary. Fertile ground the series builds on, I happen to know. Such a fun and excellent re-read, knowing what comes in the very next issue.

Another win for Carey and Gross!

Even if the book wasn't as it good as it is, it would merit a lot of praise for the "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" issue that made sense and was shaded enough to overcome the substantial gimmick-factor of the premise.

Another good Unwritten volume! These comics are super fun and I’m loving all the cliches and homage to past authors and stories. I think it’s well executed and pokes fun without really poking fun?

Best of the three so far. Didn't really care for the choose your own adventure portion's formatting though. Looking forward to the next trade paperback.

I like the mythology of stories, but art could be better!

Copy+pasting my review from Book 1 because ..... frankly it's the same.

I'm pretty disappointed that the cover and splash pages are GORGEOUS but the art in the comic itself is ridiculously bland. Like.... unflavored oatmeal or grits bland. Unseasoned white rice bland.

Frankly, I nearly put the comic down.

But I had already inter-library loaned books 3 and 4 and had books 1,2, and 5 so I figured, why not.

I'm at book three now and it's HARD to get through. The story is.... interesting? It's a cool concept but one that I feel would have been serviced far better by a more interesting art style. It's also incredibly hard to believe that the "Tommy Taylor" series is as popular as it is when the writing samples we see are frankly, terrible.

I'm just.... disappointed. This series had a lot of potential and it's just knocked down through bland art and the unbelievable premise that a children's book that makes up 50% of all the books sales for a year in this world has writing that bad! Ahaha. Magic doorknobs I can handle! Ridiculous statistics I can not!

The "choose your own" adventure section in the middle was SO annoying. It makes no sense to me that a book that's been told straightforwardly this whole time would suddenly have those elements. Choose your own adventures should be stand-alone books, not randomly thrown in the middle of a story. I want to know what actually happened, not 1000 possibilities of what could've happened.

The rest of the plot is also getting to be too confusing and all-over-the-place for me. Complexity in a plot is nice, but there is a fine line between just enough and too much. I may try one or two more in the series because I really liked the first two, but this one really frustrated me.
