I enjoyed it. Like the first book, the plot was just ok and the world-building was still the best part of the book.
I was a bit frustrated with the relationship between the main characters and the fact it took most of the book for them to finally get together. When I read a series for the romance, I like having the relationship being an established one in the second book! The “will they, won’t they” quickly got on my nerves and I was thinking of not continuing the series.
Fortunately, they got together in the last quarter or so! I am now excited to read the next book!

(Review of 2021 edition)
A series to be read in order.
Tensions rise in San Francisco as rare dragon eggs are stolen, merfolk cause a lot of damage, and things get more complicated between Jordan and Edra. There are no human/mytho relationships known about, especially not between the SFPD's Mytho police officer and the Liason from Mytho Servo.
There's a lot of drama as they try and balance keeping both communities happy, getting justice for those involved whilst attempting to work out if there is even a possible future relationship between them. Both men have past hurts that they have to deal with along with contemplating the mess that thing will become once the world knows that they are together. Can a human and a lesser dragon be mates? And work colleagues? Can they balance the need for human justice whilst protecting the mythos? Can they even solve any of their cases whilst going up against the prejudice of the humans towards the mythos community? So many questions that leads to intense dramatic moments, both verbal and action.
There's a lot to take in throughout the whole book but it's gripping and entertaining. I enjoyed all aspects of the story and am looking forward to how Jordan and Edra go forward and what case they come up against next.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
